What Starts July 1

With summer well underway, we find ourselves nearing a legislative benchmark of sorts — July 1st. Legislation passed by the Tennessee General Assembly has what is referred to as an “enactment date” included in the bill language. Typically, it’s either January 1, July 1, or upon receiving the Governor’s signature. Several bills passed during session have already taken effect, but the list of remaining new laws is expansive.
