The Young Farmers & Ranchers program promotes leadership skills for farmers ages 18-35. Members share a common bond for the agricultural lifestyle, are interested in leadership development, and are dedicated to solving problems facing agriculture. YF&R also provides social activities and competitions that recognize young leaders in agriculture.

General Information
Rural young people in Tennessee of the age group approximately 18 to 35 years. Members share a common bond for the agricultural lifestyle, are interested in leadership development and are dedicated to solving problems facing agriculture.
Young Farmer of the Year
The Young Farmer of the Year, or Achievement Award program, rewards farmers for their commitment to excellence in the agriculture industry and their efficiency in farming practices, sound financial management and leadership in civic organizations.
Environmental Stewardship
This award recognizes environmental stewardship efforts by young farmers while increasing public awareness of the agricultural community’s commitment to environmental stewardship, and is designed to help young farmers who strive for environmental preservation and best management practices to evaluate their progress and celebrate their successes.
Excellence in Agriculture
The Excellence in Agriculture Award Program is designed as an opportunity for Young Farmers & Ranchers to be judged on their involvement in agriculture, leadership ability, involvement and participation in Farm Bureau and other organizations.
Discussion Meet
The Discussion Meet is designed to simulate a committee meeting where discussion and active participation are expected from each participant. This competition is evaluated on an exchange of ideas and information on a pre-determined topic.
Outstanding Young Woman
The Outstanding Young Woman contest will be held during the State Convention in Franklin at the Embassy Suites in December. Contestants will be judged on application and interview, Farm Bureau/YF&R activities, presentation and community involvement.
YouTell Ag Video Contest
The YouTell Ag Videography Contest is designed to provide participants the opportunity to enlighten other producers and the general public on methods of production and issues facing today’s farmers.
