Ag in the Classroom
In 1981, Agriculture in the Classroom was initiated by the current U.S. Secretary of Agriculture John Block to improve “agricultural literacy” among students. Since then, we’ve come a long way, but there is still a lot of work to be done. Today we utilize online resources, county farm days, school garden grants, teacher recognition, professional development and much more to promote agricultural literacy.
Virtual Farm Day Resources
Throughout 2020, most counties had to unfortunately cancel farm days as a result of COVID-19. They were still committed to share farm and agriculture knowledge with students though, so they adapted and created “virtual farm days.” These videos are shareable to classrooms, and we hope they are helpful to planning a virtual farm day experience!
