Aaron and Mackenna Loy of Jefferson County took home second place honors in the Tennessee Farm Bureau Young Farmers and Ranchers Achievement Award contest. The announcement was made during the YF&R Summer Conference at the Farm Bureau Expo Center in Lebanon.
Getting involved in the farm at a young age, Aaron has grown his family’s diversified livestock operation over the past few years. The farm consists of commercial beef cattle and a hog finishing business where they sell meat directly off the farm, in addition to raising hay for livestock.
Both Aaron and Mackenna have been involved in YF&R for several years, winning the district in this award many times. Aaron has also been involved with the greater Farm Bureau organization as he served as the Jefferson County Farm Bureau President the past few years.
The Loys were named this year’s winners based upon farm and financial records from 2023 as well as their leadership on the farm, in their community and in Farm Bureau. The couple competed against 18 other county contestants to be named the second-place state winner.
As second place winners, the Loys receive free use of a brand-new Kubota tractor up to 250 hours, $500 in qualified Farm Bureau Services, $500 in services from Farmers Services and a trip to the American Farm Bureau Convention in San Antonio in January 2025.
