Eliminate the Death Tax

Have you have ever wondered why the modern Tennessee farmer has a hard time making it? Consider this. Many farms are passed on through an estate, and in Tennessee, that estate is taxed. That means the farm your mom and dad worked so hard to build for your future is worth significantly less the second they die.  Many are forced to sell farms rather than continue to operate them. While death and taxes are certainties, the way in which we are taxed is something our elected representatives can alter, and it’s time to ask them to do just that. That’s why the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation is supporting Tennesseans Against Death Taxes, a group seeking to have estate and gift taxes repealed in Tennessee. Plans are in place to lower these tax rates, but that’s not enough. The future of family farming is in danger. But this is a problem that can be fixed. Your representative can make Tennessee a better place for next-generation farmers. Please visit www.tennesseansagainstdeathtaxes.com to do your part.
