During the 2022 American Farm Bureau annual meeting in Atlanta, the Tennessee Farm Bureau board of directors met and appointed Willie German of Fayette County to serve the organization as the Tennessee Farm Bureau Insurance District I Director.
“I’m honored to have been chosen to serve Tennessee Farm Bureau in this role,” said German. “The organization is our main voice, and I don’t know what we would do without it. Our insurance services are second to none, and I’m excited to play a greater role in helping the organization serve our members.”
German, along with his family, farms row crops on more than 8,500 acres and raises roughly 100-head of cattle. Getting involved first through the Tennessee Young Farmers and Ranchers program, German has been loyal to the organization serving on the Fayette County board of directors for nearly 40 years, including 16 years as president.
“We are excited for Willie to serve not only our insurance companies in this role, but the entire Tennessee Farm Bureau grassroots organization,” said Tennessee Farm Bureau President Eric Mayberry. “He has been a longtime Farm Bureau volunteer leader through the years, and we appreciate his willingness to step up and serve our century-old organization in this way. We look forward to working with him to strengthen the voice of agriculture in Tennessee.”
German was selected to fill the vacancy in the district I director position as a result of Gibson County’s Jason Luckey stepping down after 14 years on the board. German will serve the remainder of the unexpired term and seek re-election to the board at the annual meeting of Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company in April.
