During Tennessee Farm Bureau’s fourth quarter board meeting, Tennessee Farm Bureau Board of Directors appointed Kim Ballard of Franklin County to serve the organization as the Tennessee Farm Bureau Insurance District III director.

“It is humbling to be chosen to serve Tennessee Farm Bureau in this role,” said Ballard. “The organization is our voice for what is important and what matters to farmers. Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation and our insurance services are second to none, and I look forward to helping the organization serve Tennesseans.”

Ballard and her husband, Jay Jr., and sons, Jaycob and Calvin, raise beef cattle and hay in Franklin and Lincoln counties. She graduated from Motlow State Community College before obtaining a degree in agribusiness and minor in agricultural education from Middle Tennessee State University. Now, she teaches science at Lincoln County High School, in addition to working on the farm. Getting involved first through 4-H, FFA and Tennessee Young Farmers & Ranchers, Ballard has been involved with Farm Bureau for more than twenty-five years, serving Franklin County Farm Bureau as president for the past seven years.

“We are thrilled to have Kim accept the challenge to serve our grassroots and insurance companies in this role,” said Tennessee Farm Bureau President Eric Mayberry. “We appreciate her willingness to serve and look forward to working with her to strengthen the voice of agriculture in Tennessee.”

In keeping with the process established in the organization’s by-laws, Ballard will begin serving effective December 1, 2022 and will complete the remainder of the unexpired term of Bradley County’s Jack Sanders who announced his retirement after 30 years. Ballard will seek re-election to the board of Tennessee Rural Health Improvement Association and Tennessee Farmers Mutual Insurance Company at their upcoming annual meetings.
