This week thousands of FFA members will flood the streets of Indianapolis for the 96th National FFA Convention, and Tennessee is proud to have Faith Cook of Wilson County representing the Volunteer state as a national officer candidate in the hopes of being selected on Saturday as one of six national officers to represent the more than 800,000 FFA members nationwide.
Amy Beckham: Representing Tennessee in the Blue Jacket. Hello there and welcome to Tennessee Home and Farm Radio, I’m Amy Beckham.
Faith Cook: It’s honestly just so surreal, but I’m so thankful to have the opportunity to get to represent Tennessee and get to show what Tennessee is all about.
Amy Beckham: Well, this week thousands of FFA members will flood the streets of Indianapolis, Indiana for the 96th National FFA Convention, and Tennessee is proud to have Faith Cook of Wilson County representing the Volunteer State as a national officer candidate in the hopes of being selected as one of six national officers to represent more than 800,000 FFA members nationwide. She shares a little bit about the experience so far.
Faith Cook: The process, it’s actually been a lot of fun to get to see all of the other candidates from all of the other states. I’ve been able to make so many good friends and just a lot of memories. But I’ve been through a series of interviews. So far, I’ve done the personal round one, which is they’re kind of getting to know me, I’ve gotten to do a speech and I’ve gotten to interact with all of the nominating committee members one on one in an interview round. And then I also got to do the round robin and media side of that and have some more interviews this week. But, it’s been so much fun. And I’m really just looking forward to all of the other FFA members getting here.
Amy Beckham: A sophomore at Middle Tennessee State University, Faith served as a Tennessee FFA State Secretary last year, and provides her reason for seeking a national office.
Faith Cook: It comes down to the fact that I love people. And I know that sounds so simple, but I really do just love people. And I love our organization and the people in it and all of the members and the agriculturists that support it. I mean, it’s just, it’s so wild because it’s such a huge community. And all of these people in my life have just poured and poured and poured into me and that’s all that’s why I want to do it.
Amy Beckham: The announcement of national officers will happen on Saturday, November 4, and we are proud to say Faith does know she’s already made the cut for the top 50%, so we’re proud of her for that and wish her well as she continues the process the rest of the week. For Tennessee Home and Farm Radio, I’m Amy Beckham.
