Close to 1,200 farmers and agriculturalists from across the state of Tennessee will be in Franklin this weekend for the culmination of Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation’s 100th anniversary.

“We couldn’t be more thrilled to celebrate 100 years of Tennessee Farm Bureau at our 100th annual convention,” said Tennessee Farm Bureau President Jeff Aiken. “It’s of course going to be bittersweet for me as this is my last convention as president, but I’m excited to reflect on our organization’s history, celebrate what has made Tennessee Farm Bureau so strong for the past century – our grassroots leaders, and develop policy which will prepare us for the upcoming year and our next century as the voice of agriculture.”

The annual convention is December 4-7 at the Marriott Hotel in Franklin. It will feature Young Farmer and Rancher competitions, Farm Bureau Women’s Leadership activities, a leadership recognition service honoring the success of county programs and their leaders and the annual business session. In addition, speakers from many different facets will discuss pertinent issues facing agriculture and members in attendance will also honor and thank President Jeff Aiken and his wife, Carol, for their service to the organization for the past six years.

To commemorate the centennial celebration, a museum of Tennessee Farm Bureau memorabilia and history through the decades will be on display and a special 100-Year Gala featuring keynote speakers American Farm Bureau President Zippy Duvall and Tennessee Governor Bill Lee.

Delegates of the 100th annual meeting will conclude the convention by electing a new president along with other members of the Tennessee Farm Bureau Board of Directors.
