Tennessee Chamber and Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation Announce Partnership to Inform Candidates About Important Issues Facing Agriculture, Business, and Manufacturing

Tennessee Chamber of Commerce & Industry and Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation are co-hosting a 5th Congressional District Candidate Forum Agriculture and Commerce on Thursday, July 7th in Franklin, the heart of the redrawn district. The forum will feature leading candidates from both Democrat and Republican parties seeking the open seat which includes Lewis, Marshall, Maury, and portions of Davidson, Williamson, and Wilson counties. Candidates will introduce themselves and make brief comments and then respond to questions about several important federal policy topics impacting agriculture, commerce, business, and manufacturing. The last time the 5th Congressional District seat was open was in 2002; this is a prominent district for economic activity and intersects major business and agricultural operations.

“We are proud to again partner with our friends at the Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation as we work to educate, inform, and impact public policy for business and manufacturing. The 5th district is an important district with diverse business and agriculture operations throughout. We are excited to engage the business community and learn more about each candidate’s ideas to maintain Tennessee’s strong climate for business and agriculture,” said Tennessee Chamber of Commerce President and CEO, Bradley Jackson.

“Tennessee’s official motto has been ‘Agriculture and Commerce’ since 1987 and on our state seal since 1801,” said Eric Mayberry, Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation President. “Both are and have long been mutually important to Tennessee’s economy. It is fitting we partner with the Chamber of Commerce and hear firsthand from those vying for the responsibility how they view the challenges facing agriculture and commerce, why they are the right person for the task, and what vision they have for the future for the 5th district.”
