TFBF Urges House Agriculture Committee Passage of Farm Bill

May 22, 2024 | Tennessee Farm Bureau

Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation is proud to extend our support for the
Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024. The farm bill is one of the single-most
important pieces of legislation for the agricultural industry in the United States. Passage
of this bill will ensure funding for crucial risk management tools remains for farmers in
Tennessee and the nation.

The Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2024 acknowledges the extensive
challenges facing America’s farmers. TFBF commends House Agriculture Committee Chairman G.T. Thompson’s work to enhance the farm safety net; invest in research, rural development, trade, and conservation programs; preserve interstate commerce of agricultural products; improve dairy programs and pricing, and much more. These improvements will help farmers combat increasing supply costs and inflationary pressures, ensuring the United States agricultural industry remains viable.

Congress must focus on passing a five-year farm bill. The agricultural community needs
a new five-year farm bill passed now, not just another extension of the current bill.
Passage of the Farm, Food, and National Security Act in the House Agriculture
Committee is a strong starting point but is just the beginning. TFBF encourages the
House to pass this piece of legislation with bipartisan support and urges the Senate to
follow the lead of the House. Passing a robust farm bill is critical in maintaining
America’s safe, affordable, and stable food supply.
