Tennessee Farm Bureau Statement on Trade

The following statement may be attributed to Tennessee Farm Bureau Federation President Jeff Aiken:

“Trade is crucial to the livelihood of Tennessee and America’s farmers and the communities they live in. We remain hopeful trade disputes with our global partners can be resolved quickly and reasonably. Retaliatory tariffs imposed on targeted agricultural products have caused market uncertainty.

The $12 billion USDA assistance plan will help counter the billions of dollars of losses and help provide a welcome measure of temporary relief from the retaliatory tariffs facing our export markets.

As Tennessee farmers prepare to harvest 2018 crops, Farm Bureau will continue to advocate for a resolution to these trade disputes to restore lost markets and seek out new markets for our agricultural products.”
